Wigan fans would have arrived at the DW stadium on Saturday evening hoping for a better result than the opening day hammering they took from Blackpool, all they got was a worse performance and a bigger hammering from Champions Chelsea. Last season Wigan upset the Champions by having the nerve to beat them, well Chelsea were in the mood for revenge, and how they took it! Martinez was hoping for a response from his battered side and for the first twenty minutes he got it. Wigan pressed and harassed Chelsea high up the pitch managing to starve Anelka and Drogba of the ball.
